EarthBucks Joins the Astrohacker Family

A quick note to the miners and users who keep the EarthBucks blockchain running: thank you, as always. This post is pure housekeeping — nothing about EarthBucks is changing for you. I want to explain what did change behind the scenes, and why.

What changed

I’ve transferred ownership of EarthBucks from EarthBucks Inc. to Astrohacker, the new umbrella company for all my projects. Copyright notices, LICENSE files, and footers across the codebase now read “Astrohacker” instead of “EarthBucks Inc.” That’s the whole change.

To be explicit about what did not change:

• The protocol, blockchain, and genesis block are untouched.
• Your EBX balance, keys, wallet, and mining setup are unaffected.
• The domain, the codebase, the APIs, and the team (me) are the same.
• I still own and control 100% of the project, exactly as described in December.

If you do nothing, you will notice nothing. The chain is the chain.

Why: one brand for a suite of products

EarthBucks was never meant to stand alone as just another blockchain. It’s the electronic cash layer for a suite of products I’m building. The more those products take shape, the clearer it becomes that they all need to share a brand.

That brand is Astrohacker. The tagline is “Hack the universe.” The portfolio — currently — is below.

The suite

TermSurf — TERMINAL + BROWSER

A terminal that contains a full web browser. Type web google.com and a Chromium pane opens alongside your shell. No context switch, no Cmd+Tab ritual. Working prototype today on macOS.

Shannon — NUSHELL + BASH

A shell that gives you both nushell and bash. Shift+Tab switches between modes while environment variables and working directory sync automatically. Named after Claude Shannon. In beta.

KeyPears — SECRET EXCHANGE

A federated, end-to-end encrypted secret exchange — addresses like alice@keypears.com, Diffie-Hellman under the hood. Password manager, encrypted messenger, and, importantly, the future EarthBucks wallet.

Rickbait — FRONT PAGE

A social network where your Rick Roll number is your identity. AI-generated clickbait, an algorithmic feed, and an ad auction market. Yes, really.

RSS Anyway — FEED AGGREGATOR

An RSS reader that does the boring work for you: discovers blogs from Hacker News, detects or generates feeds, and ranks the latest posts.

EarthBucks — ELECTRONIC CASH

The one you already know. GPU-mined, instant finality, email-style addresses, 42 million EBX. The money that flows through everything above.

EarthBucks as the cash layer

Consolidating the brand isn’t cosmetic. It gives EBX a demand-side story that a standalone cryptocurrency can’t easily build: whenever any of these products needs a micro-payment — a paid API call from TermSurf, a wallet swipe from KeyPears, an ad auction in Rickbait — EBX is the native settlement. The more the suite grows, the more places EBX is useful.

That’s the thesis. Astrohacker builds the products. EarthBucks moves the money.

The roadmap hasn’t moved

Same plan as last month:

1. TermSurf 1.0 — terminal with integrated web browser.
2. KeyPears 1.0 — federated password manager with sync and encrypted messaging.
3. EarthBucks in KeyPears — EBX wallet inside KeyPears.
4. EarthBucks 2.0 — the peer-to-peer network as originally envisioned.

Still part-time, still AI-assisted, still shipping.
