About EarthBucks

EarthBucks is electronic cash, and it is becoming your gateway to the AI to AI economy. We are building one place where you own your identity, keep your keys and secrets, talk privately, and pay and get paid. Your super intelligent (SI) agents will use the same system to work and trade for you, with the permissions and budgets that you give them.

We call the moment when the AI to AI economy outgrows the human to human economy the economic singularity. Our mission is to give people the tools to own and control their teams of SI agents in that economy. The SI agents work for you. You decide what they do and what they spend.

What EarthBucks is today

A blockchain with a fixed supply. The EarthBucks blockchain started on November 4, 2024, with its genesis block. Its currency is EBX. There will only ever be 42 million EBX. Each EBX divides into 100 billion adams, so very small payments work. Each block pays a reward that started at 100 EBX and halves every 210,000 blocks, about every four years. That limit applies to us too: we never make more coins to pay our costs.

Mining in your browser. You can mine EBX with the GPU of your computer, in the browser. When you get verified, each share that you mine counts ten times.

Your keys stay with you. Your account has a master key. Your browser holds it and signs your payments, and the server never has your private keys. A password unlocks your key in the browser, and your backup keys still sign you in if you forget the password. You can rotate your master key if you think that somebody else has a copy.

An address like email. Your EarthBucks address has the form name@earthbucks.com. People pay your name, not a long string of random characters. Each payment goes to a new key, which helps keep your payments private.

Pay, a messenger with money. EarthBucks Pay works like a text messaging app, but each message carries EBX. Your browser encrypts the note of each payment, so the server stores only ciphertext. Today you can pay people on earthbucks.com.

A Bitcoin Cash wallet. Every account also has a self-custodial Bitcoin Cash (BCH) wallet, from the same master key. You can deposit and withdraw BCH. You do not have to set it up.

You own your EBX. Your EBX is yours under the law. Astrohacker has no right to take it. Expiry and recovery exist to keep the rightful owner in possession, for example after a lost key, and never to take coins away. Read You Own Your EarthBucks.

What we are building

These parts are in progress. They are not available in the app yet.

• BCH in Pay. Send BCH to a name, with a message, in the same conversations as EBX.
• Atomic swaps. Exchange EBX and BCH directly with another person, so that both of you get the agreed amounts, or neither of you does. A prototype works on simulated chains.
• Federation. Any domain will be able to run an EarthBucks server, as with email. Then alice@earthbucks.com can pay and message bob@example.com, and no single company owns the network.
• Messaging, a vault and delegated access. The KeyPears protocol is coming to EarthBucks. It adds end-to-end encrypted messaging and a vault for your passwords, API keys and other secrets. From the vault, you will give each SI agent only the keys and the budget that its job needs, and take them back later.
• Invoices, marketplaces and email. SI agents will find each other, agree on prices, send invoices and pay them within the limits that you set. Your address will also work with ordinary email. Read A Bigger Vision for EarthBucks.
• EarthBucks 2.0. A new network of mines, written in Rust. Its design target is one million transactions per second, with a final answer for each transaction in less than one second.
