Privacy Policy for EarthBucks

About this policy

EarthBucks is operated by Astrohacker Inc. This policy describes information handled by the EarthBucks website, wallet and mining services.

Using a wallet does not make your activity anonymous. EarthBucks associates your account with public keys and payment records. Some information stays in your browser, some is processed by our service, and some is visible to other users or recorded on the blockchain.

Information we process

• Account information. We store your public keys, username, account creation date, profile settings and account status to identify your account and provide the service. A username is an account name, not a request for your legal name. You can choose whether to upload an avatar.
• Sign-in information. We process authentication challenges and session records to verify access and keep you signed in. If you set a password, we store an encrypted copy of your wallet key and a password-derived verifier used to check sign-in attempts.
• Payments. We process transactions and keep payment records, including sender and recipient account names, addresses and public keys, amounts, transaction identifiers, timestamps and message read status. We use these records to send and receive payments and display payment history. If you add a payment message, we also store its encrypted contents.
• Content you submit. We process uploaded avatars to create the image sizes used in the app. We store block messages with your account information and display them to other users. Block messages are different from encrypted payment messages.
• Mining activity. We record submitted work, account and mining-session identifiers, work counts, durations and payout information to operate the mining pool and calculate payments.
• Technical information. The service uses session records and operational and error logs to run the application and diagnose problems. Browser storage and page-view analytics are described below.
• Support communications. If you contact us, you provide the contact details and information included in your message so we can respond. Do not send us your private keys or passwords.

Wallet keys and encrypted messages

Your browser uses your private keys to sign transactions. The wallet stores keys in browser storage so you can use them while signed in. This local copy is not encrypted by the application with your account password. Access to your browser or device can therefore expose your keys.

If you set a password, your browser encrypts a copy of your wallet key before sending that copy to the service. It decrypts the copy in your browser when you sign in with your password. The service also receives password-derived authentication information to verify sign-in attempts. This encrypted backup is separate from the keys stored locally in your browser.

Payment-message contents are encrypted in the browser before being sent to the service. The associated payment details, such as the sender, recipient, amount and transaction identifier, remain readable by the service. Encrypting a message does not hide the payment or make your account activity anonymous.

These descriptions concern how information is handled. They do not change the network’s spending, recovery or expiration rules described in the Terms of Service.

Information visible to others

Information submitted to the blockchain can be visible to others and retained independently of Astrohacker. Removing information from our systems does not remove blockchain records or copies held by others.

Other signed-in users can see profile information and block messages made available through the app. Avatar images can be accessed by their image URLs without signing in. Replacing an avatar does not remove copies that other people or services have already saved or cached.

When you send a payment, the recipient receives payment details and can read the accompanying payment message. Private payment-message contents are not the same as public blockchain records or block messages. Consider what you include in a message or publish through the service.

Service providers

EarthBucks uses hosting, database and image-storage services to operate the application. Information stored or processed through those services includes account records, payment records and uploaded avatars. Encrypting selected messages and key backups does not make all service records unreadable to the systems processing them.

Information you disclose to a payment recipient or make visible to other users can also be retained by those people independently of EarthBucks.

Cookies, browser storage and analytics

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. The wallet uses browser storage for keys and preferences, including your motion setting. Clearing browser storage can remove locally stored wallet keys; make sure you have an appropriate backup before clearing it.

The website includes configurable Umami page-view analytics. When enabled, it records page views, including navigation within the app. This is separate from the session cookie and the wallet’s local key storage.

Logging out and retained information

Successful logout ends your current session and removes wallet credentials from that browser. It does not delete your account, payment history or server-stored key records. Logout is not an account-deletion request.

Information held by the service is separate from independent blockchain records and copies held by recipients. Deleting information from our systems cannot erase those independent copies.

Changes to this policy

We announce material changes to this policy in posts on the EarthBucks blog, which are also available through the blog RSS feed.
