EarthBucks 1.0 is live!
I’ve decided on a plan for EarthBucks 2.0, which is:
- Peer-to-Peer Network: The most foundational piece of EarthBucks 2.0 is the
peer-to-peer network, starting
with two new mines hosted at compucha.com and
ninjabutton.com. However, unlike the primary app
hosted at earthbucks.com, I do not plan to have a webapp hosted at these new
domains. Instead, there will be a new
desktop app and mobile app that you will
use to interface with the new mines. This will allow me to concentrate my
efforts on one UI, the native app (for desktop and mobile), rather than a bunch
of separate webapps. This will enable me to launch many mines and wallet
services, all with different domain names, but all sharing a common API and
client-side UI.
- Bitcoin Cash Wallet: The most important early application for EarthBucks is
an exchange so there can be a real market value for EarthBucks. However, there
are legal issues with launching a standard centralized exchange. Thankfully,
the cryptocurrency industry already exists, and it is technically possible to
build a decentralized exchange with no legal issues. The easiest
cryptocurrency to start with is Bitcoin Cash. So I have decided to launch a
Bitcoin Cash wallet inside the new EarthBucks native app. Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
will be a fully supported cryptocurrency right alongside EarthBucks (EBX).
The wallet will be self-custodial and will support
merge avoidance, a technique for
greatly increasing privacy on any blockchain, which has never been implemented
before on Bitcoin Cash, and will therefore help to draw in an audience of
Bitcoin Cash users.
- Decentralized Exchange: The EarthBucks native app will also include a
decentralized exchange. After the new BCH and EBX wallets are complete, the
greatest value in having both self-custodial wallets together in the same app
is to create a full self-custodial exchange, i.e., decentralized exchange.
Currently, my idea is to put the order book itself on the EarthBucks
blockchain, although that particular aspect may change, as I think a
centralized order book may work. The most important part is that the actual
exchange is decentralized, meaning when a trade is executed, the client-side
app will sign the transaction(s).
For EarthBucks 2.0, I will operate all mines myself to make sure the software
technically works. However, my intention is to open up the network for anybody
to run a mine or wallet (subject to certain conditions). That may happen for the
3.0 milestone.
Stay tuned for more updates!
