Why I’ve Decided to Earn More Money

2025-03-17 · Ryan X. Charles

EarthBucks is currently stable at 1.0 and I don’t immediately need to fix any issues. I’ve decided my best option now is to earn more money, and that means building a bunch of apps that I’ve been wanting to make that both fit into the EarthBucks ecosystem and also allow me to earn more money in order to fund my work.

I’m not going to make any visible updates to the main EarthBucks app for a while, probably at least two months. However, I don’t want people to think this project is stagnating. My vision is to use EarthBucks as a medium of exchange for an entire network of apps, and those apps need to exist so that people can see what I’m talking about.

My vision for EarthBucks is what I used to think Bitcoin was all about: internet money. What EarthBucks should be is a common medium of exchange for the internet, so that entrepreneurs can accept low-cost, irreversible transactions, and consumers can make small payments for things without having to sign up for yet another monthly subscription. There isn’t really a cryptocurrency that fully satisfies my vision, and that’s my primary motivation for creating EarthBucks. (Although some cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin Cash, come close.)

The apps that I’m building will accept fiat currency first, because I need to pay my bills in fiat currency. However, I will also add support for Bitcoin Cash, EarthBucks, and other cryptocurrencies with time. One of the apps I plan to make is a Bitcoin Cash wallet so that I can flesh out all of the technology to make this possible.

EarthBucks 2.0 is still happening. However, instead of funding myself by selling EBX, which seems to do nothing but suppress the price, I’ve decided to fund myself by building apps that earn fiat currency directly. Long-term, this is the best path forward to support the EarthBucks ecosystem. If I’m earning a lot of money with my apps, I don’t need to sell EBX to fund my work. Instead, I can be a buyer, which is what I would rather be at today’s prices.

I will continue to publish updates to the EarthBucks blog as I go. Stay tuned for more updates.
