A couple of days ago, I soft-launched Hallucipedia, the AI app I said I was building. I plan to integrate EarthBucks as both a way to purchase credits in Hallucipedia and a way to earn money for creating content.
My primary mission with EarthBucks is creating a practical electronic cash system for small casual transactions. It so happens that AI is the perfect real-world use case for small casual transactions. Creating an article in Hallucipedia costs me, the app creator, about 50 cents. I would run out of money quickly if I let users do that for free. So why not just charge users small amounts of money for this functionality?
It is my humble opinion that the only reason this isn’t more common is the difficulty of using credit cards for small payments. Because credit cards charge a minimum of 30 cents per transaction, plus a minimum of about 2.9%, this means the minimum buy-in for an app is around 10.00 USD. You can’t just charge 1.00 USD with a credit card because the fees would be too high.
EarthBucks is perfect for this. Because EarthBucks transactions have literally zero fees, it is perfect for this type of small casual transaction. Being able to charge users only 1.00 USD to use a product means the “buy-in” is extremely low. Users will be much less afraid to try an app that only charges 1.00 USD.
It doesn’t end there. Because self-custodial cryptocurrency transactions do not require that I obtain a money transmitter license, I can make it possible for users to earn rewards with EarthBucks. Imagine getting paid in EarthBucks for creating articles or bringing new users to the app. This is far easier to do with EarthBucks than with fiat currency. Users can even trade with each other.
In conclusion, Hallucipedia is a demonstration of the ideal use case for EarthBucks. As I make progress on the EarthBucks integration, I will share more information here.
