Introducing Identellica Integration, Part 1: A Blue Check, Longer Block Messages with Links, and User Name Synchronization

Today I’m happy to announce I have finished the first phase of the integration with Identellica. You can now verify your EarthBucks account with Identellica by swiping the “verify” button on the verification page. Verifying your account will synchronize your username from Identellica to EarthBucks and grant you the special privilege of longer block messages with links. There is not (yet) any mining advantage to verification. Additional privileges, such as mining advantage and automatic mining, are coming soon.

About Identellica

I am not just building one mine located at earthbucks.com, but an entire network consisting of at least three mines, an exchange, and an identity service. And after all that is going, I plan to build some of my own apps.

Common to all apps is a notion of identity verification. Sometimes, it may be valuable to know if the person you are talking to is real. And in some cases, you may need to know their identifying information such as email address, phone number, and real name.

The purpose of Identellica is to solve the identity verification problem in one place, at identellica.com. Every app that I create, starting with EarthBucks, will integrate with Identellica. If you verify once at Identellica, you can re-use your verification on all apps.

The API for Identellica will also be available for third-party apps, so that any entrepreneurs in the space can use the API to request access to your verification status.

The Blue Check

Both Identellica and EarthBucks are still a work-in-progress. Today, I’m happy to announce that I have finished the first phase of the integration, which is a way to verify your EarthBucks account with Identellica. Simply visit the verification page, swipe the “verify” button, and you will be redirected to Identellica to complete the verification process.

Some of your verification information will be synchronized to EarthBucks. For instance, EarthBucks will use the fact of whether you are membership verified, email verified, phone verified, and government ID verified, and will also make use of the expiration date of these verifications.

Most significantly, Identellica verification will synchronize your username from Identellica to EarthBucks. Whatever your username is on Identellica will become your username on EarthBucks. In this manner, Identellica will be the central naming system of all of my apps (and can optionally be used by other apps in the ecosystem).

Longer Block Messages with Links

The original Block Message app only allowed short messages with no links. I didn’t want spammers to spam it up with tons of links to spam websites, so I disabled links. However, I think it’s very valuable to allow links, so long as it’s from users who are proven to be verified. This should dramatically reduce spam and allow honest users to advertise their products or link to other information that may be useful to EarthBucks users.

Next Steps

Now that Identellica has been integrated, I can move forward with the next (more important) steps of giving certain advantages to people who verify.

Coming soon, those advantages will include:

• A new wallet so that you can send and receive EarthBucks. Over the long-term, the wallet will be free, but at launch, I plan to require paid Identellica membership to encourage more people to pay so that I know I have enough money to fund all these services. After a beta period for verified users only, eventually the wallet will become free.
• A mining advantage for verified members of 2x and additional advantages for email verified, phone verified, and government ID verified users of up to 10x. This is my best idea to make sure that individual people are able to get a significant amount of EarthBucks.
• A new UI for mining automatically inside your web browser.

These new features will be available in the coming weeks as I finish implementing them.

Conclusion

The first phase of the Identellica integration is complete. You can now verify your EarthBucks account with Identellica, which will synchronize your username and verification status. You will also be granted the special privilege of longer block messages with links. There is not (yet) any mining advantage to verification. More features are coming soon, including a new wallet, mining advantages, and a new UI for mining automatically inside your web browser.
